Domain WHOIS Checker

Due to privacy regulations, most notably the **General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)**, registrars are now required to redact or mask the personal contact information (name, address, email, phone number) of individual domain owners from the public WHOIS database. This practice is standard unless the owner is a corporation or has explicitly consented otherwise.

The **Registry** (e.g., Verisign for .com) is the organization that manages all the domains for a specific Top-Level Domain (TLD). The **Registrar** (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap) is the company that sells the domain name registration service to the public. WHOIS data lists both the organization that maintains the record (Registry) and the company you bought the domain from (Registrar).

The **Domain Status** field indicates the current lifecycle state of a domain. Common statuses include: **'ok'** (active and operational); **'clientTransferProhibited'** (locked against unauthorized transfer); **'clientHold'** (removed from the DNS, usually due to expiration or a dispute); or **'pendingDelete'** (scheduled for deletion). Checking the status is crucial for assessing domain health and security.
